SAN DIEGO, CA, December 18, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — Chef Roc Productions announced today that its newest series, Chefs of Color will premiere at 6 p.m. EST (3 p.m. PST) on December 20 on Fox Soul, the streaming service dedicated to celebrating Black culture and telling Black stories. Chefs of Color features four Black chefs, each hosting 10 episodes with a unique imprint. Up first is Kelston Moore, a longtime member of the San Diego fine dining scene who’s now the sous chef at Star Hills Provisions®, the restaurant at Maker’s Mark® Distillery on the Star Hill Farm in Loretto, Kentucky. His 10-episode sequence bears the imprint “Bad Boyz of Culinary” after a nonprofit group dedicated to helping Black culinary professionals develop their skills. Moore co-founded the San Diego-based group.
Growing up in Barbados and watching his father go from cooking at his job at a resort to coming home and cooking for friends and family created a culinary passion that Moore has carried into his professional life. In his “Bad Boyz of Culinary” episodes he will focus on creating the fine dining dishes he perfected while working as a chef on private yachts, as well as running his own private chef service.
Following Moore’s debut episode, three additional chefs will host their own premiere Chefs of Color episodes.
• December 27: “Culture & Culinary” with Chef Jaaion Barnes, a U.S. Air Force veteran and Le Cordon Bleu-educated chef. It features Chef Jaaion preparing dishes that combine his classical French training and Creole roots.
• January 3, 2024: “Food Culture” with Chef Ryan Rodeno, who hails from Louisiana and has a background in Cajun-Creole, French, Italian, and Southern cuisines. His episodes reflect the breadth of his background.
• January 10, 2024: “Mortar & Pestle” with Chef Jocelyn Egleton (Chef Jos) a Philadelphia native, who focuses on traditional African-American dishes.
Once all four chefs have debuted, Fox Soul will feature their subsequent episodes on an alternating basis, with a new episode featuring one of the chefs airing each week.
Companion Podcast
The Chefs of Color universe will also include a companion podcast, with each of the featured chefs hosting 10 episodes. The podcast will be available on all major podcast sites. It’s also being produced by Chef Roc Productions.
