Community STEAM Based PK-12 School Launches 2024-2025 Student Enrollment
CHATTAHOOCHEE HILLS, GA, February 07, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — The Board of Directors and Head of School are thrilled to announce a new school name, Terra School at Serenbe, as well as an enhanced methodology and curriculum. Terra School at Serenbe is founded on Montessori practices, placing emphasis on student-centric learning that nurtures independence, creativity, and a deep love for learning.
Terra School at Serenbe serves over 200 students, and opened a new campus in August 2023 with state-of-the-art 1,500 square-foot classrooms, each with outdoor learning spaces attached. As a community-based STEAM school, it serves families from a range of cities and towns across Fulton, Coweta, Caroll, and Fayette counties. Terra School at Serenbe offers programs spanning from 8 weeks through 12th grade, extending a warm welcome to all families in search of a school dedicated to challenging lifelong learners.
“Our goal is to nurture students who thrive in a diverse and ever-evolving world, equipped with resilience, intellectual humility, an ethical compass, and boundless curiosity,” said Head of School, Dr. Brett Hardin.
At Terra School, early childhood education (ages 8 weeks to 6 years) emphasizes child-centric learning in a carefully prepared environment, fostering independence, creativity, and a foundational love for learning. As learners progress into the Upper School (ages 6 to 18 years), guidance remains rooted in the belief in their potential to make a positive impact on the world. The school promotes curiosity and fosters real-world problem-solving while employing a self-paced, multimodal curriculum aligned with national standards, all showcased in dynamic learner profiles reported through the Mastery Transcript Consortium.
At Terra School, students learn not just in the classroom but in the creeks, the pastures, and the woods. The newly constructed campus was intentionally designed to connect students to nature whether they are inside or outside the classroom. Located in Serenbe, with over 24 miles of interconnected trails, the beautiful new campus is surrounded by green space and opportunities for outdoor adventure. Each classroom was constructed to create the optimal learning environment with soaring ceilings, garage doors that open to nature, and inviting work spaces full of learning opportunities.
In addition to the new school name and brand, Terra School is excited to announce that, after serving as a school board member since 2021, April Ledom has been voted into the Board Chair position. April is a Managing Director at Coxe Curry & Associates, a nonprofit consulting firm, where she helps guide the strategic direction and oversees HR functions. April brings extensive experience in talent management and human resources to provide invaluable guidance to nonprofit clients. Beyond her corporate roles, April is a trusted advisor to startups and entrepreneurs, offering insights on leadership and culture. In the community, she has served on various educational boards and as a Power Over Prejudice Facilitator, empowering Middle School students to embrace differences.
“April is not just a leader, but a tenured advisor who embodies strategic acumen and a commitment to fostering collaboration. Her election to the Board Chair position reflects the shared belief that April will continue to steer our community-based school towards a future marked by innovation, unity, and unwavering commitment to our mission,” says the Terra School at Serenbe Board. Terra School is currently in the enrollment process for the 2024-2025 school year and is taking all inquiries from ages 8 weeks through 18 years until March 15th. After this deadline, and as space permits, Terra School will continue accepting new applications on a rolling basis. Additionally, there are robust need-based scholarships available, and the school encourages all who are interested to apply. Terra School is also growing and will be hiring additional teachers for the 2024-2025 school year. To learn more, enroll, or apply for a position at Terra School at Serenbe, visit terraatserenbe.org
