The Consortium of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena announces the arrival of the Original Balsamic Week to San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, September 09, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ — Following a successful debut last year, the Original Balsamic Week returns to the U.S., kicking off in the unofficial food capital of the West Coast: San Francisco. Hosted by the Consortium of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, the eponymous week will feature partnerships with renowned restaurants across the city, where each chef will create original dishes centered on the staple Italian ingredient.
Taking place September 12-19, the celebratory week will give San Franciscan foodies and Italophiles the exclusive opportunity to experience Balsamic Vinegar of Modena in new, unexpected ways. All 20 partnering restaurants will pair their innovative dishes with a glimpse of the Balsamic Vinegar of Modena’s fascinating history and organoleptic qualities, offering patrons a unique educational experience. The Original Balsamic Week also grants the city’s top chefs the ability to explore Balsamic Vinegar of Modena’s versatility, as they are encouraged to develop original recipes that transcend Italian tradition. Each restaurant will then post their dishes to social media where diners can vote on their favorite dish.
“The Original Balsamic Week will give the Consortium of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena the opportunity to continuously leave its mark within the U.S. food & wine industry as an authentic European product,” remarks Federico Desimoni, General Manager of the Consortium of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena. “Today, Balsamic Vinegar of Modena is well-represented across the US, but the link between the product and Modena, its territory of origin, and the certification system that guarantees the authentic deal are not widely acknowledged by consumers. The goal of the Consortium is to spread this knowledge.”
There will also be an online contest: recipes prepared with Balsamic Vinegar of Modena by participating restaurants will be posted on the event website, where users can vote for their favorite. The restaurant partners include Altovino, Anzu Restaurant, Aurora Novato, Barbacco – Eno Trattoria, Barbara Pinseria, Bluestem, Caffè Tiramisù, California Fish Market Restaurant, Donato & Co., Donato Enoteca, E&O Kitchen + Bar, Firenze by night, Il Casaro Pizzeria & Mozzarella Bar, Palio, Pazzia Ristorante, Perbacco, Prospect, Risto Bar SF, Scoma’s and Vico Cavone. The winners will be announced in late September.
The Original Balsamic Week is part of the project “Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, the Original,” focused on the U.S. market and financed by the European Union, to promote the added value of the Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, in regards to authenticity, safety, traceability, and labeling guaranteed by the European trademark protection. The campaign aims to enhance the competitiveness of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena across the United States.
